Boo
Boo was born July 17 1995. We bought Boo just before Halloween, but it wasn’t only the holiday which gave her the name, I also liked the name Boo, because one of my favorite movies is "To kill a Mockingbird", and Robert Duvall played a character named Boo Radley. Growing up, we only had big dogs, my first 4 dogs were big, so getting a miniature poodle was a real experience. She seemed to possess more human qualities than any dog I ever had. She’s definitely my baby girl, and I love to take her everywhere. When she was 1yr old, she developed medial patellar luxation in both her back knees. For those of you who don’t know, it means her knees kept popping out of the joints. The next 2yrs were spent either being in surgery, to reconstruct the knees, or recovering from surgery. It was a long and painful process.  She’s better now, but it looks like she’ll have arthritis in both knees. I try to keep her from playing with the big dogs, but she has a big heart and lots of spirit and loves to try to keep up with them. Her nickname is "Pumpkin".

Boo died May 17th exactly 2 months before her 13th birthday. She had contracted Meningitis and Encephalitis when she was 6 years old. They thought she had another year to live after that diagnosis, she was put on Prednisone and lived another 6 years to everyone's surprise. The side-effects of the prednisone,  after 6 years, took a toll on her body. She died of Congestive Heart Failure probably due to the prednisone weakening her heart.
